History and Location<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Martlesham Radio Society was founded in the distant past of the British Post Office Research facility in the 1970\u2019s. In the 1980\u2019s Post Office Telecommunications transmuted to British Telecommunications, and then to BT. The then Radio Society relinquished its G4BPO (British Post Office) call sign and took up G4MRS in honour of the change of name to the Martlesham Radio Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Membership<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Membership is open to \u201call those who are working at, or who have previously worked at, Adastral Park (Martlesham), or associated sites, and who have an interest in Amateur Radio.\u201d It is not<\/em> limited to those who work, or who have worked for, for BT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meetings<\/p>\n\n\n\n Club meetings are held at 19:30 on occasional Wednesdays at various locations around the site: Adastral Park, Martlesham Heath, Ipswich, Suffolk, UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Club Committee also meets on occasional Mondays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Club Shack<\/p>\n\n\n\n Until recently, MRS had a shack on site at Adastral Park. However, circumstances change and the shack is in the process of being re-established off-site. The committee are on the case, and the wait, we hope, will have been worth it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Contests<\/p>\n\n\n\n MRS members are active in some National Contests (RSGB) with some of its key members taking part in CQ WPX, ARRL 160 and ARRL DX as well as CQWW as G0KPW and M6T.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Martlesham Microwave Roundtable<\/p>\n\n\n\n For many years MRS has hosted the Martlesham Microwave Round Table (MMRT), using the excellent facilities on site provided by BT.<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" History and Location Martlesham Radio Society was founded in the distant past of the British Post Office Research facility in the 1970\u2019s.
